Round Rock Independent School District trustees have scheduled a November election asking voters to approve a tax rate increase that would fund teacher and staff compensation changes.

On August 13, the board unanimously approved calling a Voter Approved Tax Rate Election. The proposed increase would raise the Maintenance & Operations tax rate by 6 cents per $100 of property valuation, bringing the total to $0.9484 per $100 of valuation.

If approved by voters, the measure would generate approximately $30 million in additional revenue. However, roughly half of that amount would be transferred to the state under the recapture system, leaving approximately $15 million for district use.

According to district leadership, the remaining funds would support a 2% pay increase for most employees and address salary compression across positions.
